Sprint
In the sprint event, the competitors start at intervals and speed in the tracks is essential. The women’s course is 7.5 km long, while the men’s course covers a distance of 10 km. All competitors must perform two bouts of shooting (one prone and one standing) and have five shots for each bout. Competitors must complete one 150-metre penalty loop for each target missed.

  • Sprint women 7,5 km
  • Sprint men, 10 km

Pursuit
The time difference from the sprint event determines the start order for the individual competitors in the pursuit event. This event is open to the 60 best finishers from the sprint. The distances are 10 km for women and 12.5 km for men, and all competitors must perform four bouts of shooting (prone, prone, standing, standing). Competitors must complete one 150-metre penalty loop for each target missed.

  • Pursuit women 10 km
  • Pursuit men 12,5 km

Mass start
The distances are 12.5 km for women and 15 km for men, and the 30 best competitors in each class start at the same time. All competitors must perform four bouts of shooting (prone – prone – standing – standing), and must complete a 150-metre penalty loop for each target missed.
