The surplus is already earmarked for development and recruitment for the sport of biathlon and future World Cup events in Holmenkollen.

Over 100 million TV-viewers across the world followed the WCH competitions during the eight competition days. Out of these, 9,3 million TV-viewers were Norwegians. During the championships, over 270.000 spectators found their way to Holmenkollen national arena and to Oslo city center. As many as 14% of the tickets were purchased by international visitors and a total of 135.000 spectators bought tickets for the events.

Norway won four out of eleven gold medals, took nine medals in total and ended up as the second best nation, only beaten by the unstoppable French team.  – Now, we look forward to new biathlon adventures and we are confident that the World Championships has increased the Norwegian publics’ interest for biathlon, says Secretaty General in the Norwegian Biathlon Association, Rakel Rauntun.
